i1000 HomeGrow 12V DC Solar System
The Insele Solar i1000 HomeGrow is the largest 12V DC-only system in the Insele range. Originally designed for the Department of Energy’s national electrification project to provide basic electricity to remote communities, more than 10,000 systems have been installed across multiple villages in South Africa. The system provides USB charging and reliable 12V solar lighting for larger homesteads, helping to reduce reliance on potentially dangerous open-flame light sources while providing residents with efficient, high-quality LED lighting.
The system includes eight dimmable Insele luminaires, comprising six internal light fittings and two external lights, together with an easy-to-install light distribution module and a dedicated day/night connection for the external lighting. Power is supplied by a 50Ah 12V lithium battery and 150W solar panel, with solar panel mounting hardware included.

The i1000 HomeGrow provides a complete 12V DC solar lighting solution for larger homes and remote areas where access to grid electricity is limited or unavailable. Six indoor ceiling lights and two outdoor bulkhead lights provide a total of eight efficient lighting points, with dual-function LED operation allowing users to switch between dim and full-brightness settings.
A 50Ah 12V lithium battery provides an estimated runtime of 15 hours or more, supported by a 150W solar panel and PWM battery charger with a maximum 15A charge current. The system also provides two 3A USB ports, two 12V DC outputs and a 12V DC lighter socket for compatible devices. The included light distribution module simplifies installation, while the dedicated day/night connection provides convenient control of the external lighting.
